My Time Working In A Bridal Shop
My top in the pic above is from Nordstrom Rack!
I never thought I'd be doing this post so soon but here we go! So, if y'all didn't know back in December, I picked up a 2nd job at my local David's Bridal shop while working at Victoria's Secret. My decision to find a 2nd job was to get some extra money towards getting a new car, travelling, & concerts!
I was hired on as a Bridal Stylist & I'm not going to lie, I WAS TERRFIED! I had never sold such a important piece of clothing to someone's life for such a special occasion! After 7 days of training (which was the most detailed training I've ever been through) I got out on the floor & started selling bridal dresses!
I'm super lucky that I was blessed with the clientele I had, I had 0 BRIDEZILLAS which personally was my biggest fear! I have many many happy bride stories & I'll cherish those happy bride stories forever! This opportunity was such a huge step for me career wise as I want to pursue a career in Social Media Marketing in the entertainment or fashion industries (hopefully)!
Working in a bridal shop was completely out of my comfort zone due to the fact I don't have a boyfriend & I've never had a guy I've dated where I've thought about planning a wedding with. I was there for a lot of my sister's wedding planning process so the bridal industry wasn't too too foreign & I've been watching Say Yes To The Dress since I was 10 (I can't believe 10 year old me use to think that show was boring LOL! The older I got the more interested I got into the show).
I had so much fun learning the stock & all of the different bridal dress styles! I didn't style brides, I styled Bridesmaids, Maid of Honors, Mother of the Bride, Quinces, Prom, & even Vow Renewals!
Besides styling brides, my personal favorite was Bridal Parties! If the whole social media thing doesn't work out, I have always thought about getting into the Event Coordinating business so having the opportunity of organizing & styling bridal parties was super cool!
Since I was a bridal stylist, I mainly took appointments scheduled a head of time so it was almost a privilege to have that exclusive one on one time with a well trained stylist! I felt so exclusive, it was a cool feeling!
Getting to be in styling again in such a different way was really rewarding & helping out these guests & brides was extremely rewarding!
I got to even try on wedding dresses which I never thought I'd do anytime soon, it was fun! Working at bridal shop will definitely make wedding dress shopping a lot easier for me when it's that time for me! I know what styles I love & styles I don't love!
I was hired on as a seasonal during their "Bridal Christmas" which was their busiest time! The seasonal position was suppose to be from December-April but due to the Coronavirus outbreak, my time was cut short with the company! I was sad, but also at the end of the day it made me reflect on truly how much I've learned over the past few months!
Some days were easy & some days were rough! It wasn't 100% a fairytale dream job! Balancing both jobs definitely wore me out & eventually I knew this couldn't last forever!
I'm blessed that I got this opportunity & I'll definitely take what I learned in this job into future career opportunities!
Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to this little chapter in my life but moving forward David's Bridal definitely made a huge impact in my life career wise & opened my eyes to so much more that I want for my future!
