Blog Re-Launch: The Road To Finding My Passion
I'M BACK!!! I told y'all I wasn't going anywhere! This post is mostly going to be about what I've been up to in the past month & what my future plans are going to be for the blog. I'm really looking forward to what this new era of my blog is going to bring to me! It'll definitely be different from posts you've seen from me in the past!
So I made the tough decision to go down a different career path & try something completely out of my comfort zone! Even though I loved the fashion industry & found passion in where I was after 2 years of being with the company I was with, it was time to find other opportunities. It was so hard for me personally leaving that world because it was so much in my comfort zone!
Everyone loves being in their comfort zone! I know I do but I felt like I needed to grow & find new avenues so after doing some soul searching I ran into a super interesting industry completely out of my comfort zone & something I've never done before but was eager to find out more information about. That's when I got into apartment leasing.
From a very young age, I can remember going on apartment tours with my mom when we were looking to moving out of my childhood home & even though I've never personally leased an apartment myself, I was very familiar to what living in a apartment complex was like. From the end of my 5th grade year to my sophomore year of high school I lived in a apartment with my mom & sister.
It isn't a for sure path I want to go down but I want to possibly look into real estate at some point in my life so apartment leasing was a really great start to learning about trying to find a home for someone whether it was temporary or permanent. I immediately started applying for complexes all over the city whenever I did more research on the industry.
About 2 months after I started applying, I finally got an interview at a property management that had little to no information online because it was a newer property. It was a huge risk to go into this interview because I had 0 idea what to expect but I'm glad I did it. Within less than 24 hours after the interview they offered me the job.
The job itself was super interesting. It was an apartment leasing job which I had been looking for but also had another quality that I've been wanting to put on my resume for years now but I never thought I would actually get the opportunity to explore that industry & actually get paid for it. That was Social Media Marketing.
Literally from a very young age I have loved everything about social media! I love the fact that businesses I've looked up to for years in a types on industries are using social media to reach out to their clients. Whenever I found out that the job had a nice balance of social media marketing & apartment leasing I immediately took it because I wanted to be in both industries so badly!
What I really should've done was more research because I thought I was fully capable of what I was getting into but if we are being absolutely honest I had no idea! Not a single clue. Every job has its pros & cons. I was aware of some of the cons that were involved in the job & I thought I was able to handle it but truthfully, I couldn't.
I've learned so much in the past month! Not only about the industries but about myself as well. I don't regret anything I've done. God puts us all in certain situations to better ourselves & this was just one of many situations where I've had to really grow & do what was best for me. The industries themselves were super interesting but the particular job I was in wasn't the right fit at the end of the day.
Fashion truly was a passion for me but I knew it wasn't a forever passion. I'm still young trying to figure myself out in this crazy young adult world. I've always told people that I want to do several different things & if I end up finding that forever passion along the way then it's meant to be! I'm still young enough to explore all different types of avenues.
The certain leasing position I was in was super different from the typical leasing position where there's an office on the site, do tours on the site, & have all different types of cool amenities like pools & fitness centers. Everything was done from a satellite office which was off site & you basically had to drive back & forth from properties to the satellite office constantly!
It wasn't exactly the ideal leasing position but it was a great stepping stone into learning about the industry. The social media aspect of it was different from what I expected. I'm so use to seeing people use mostly Instagram as a great marketing tool. Especially for young adults, Instagram is a amazing to promote your business or your brand. This job mostly used Facebook Marketplace which I had never personally used that type of marketing before but it was super interesting to explore that way of social media marketing.
Personally for me the marketing strategies they were using were definitely different from the type of social media marketing I want to use. The audience I wanted to reach wasn't where I was at & the ideas I wanted to use would have never worked in that certain format but it would have worked in other formats.
What I learned the most in that experience was that even though that wasn't my personal passion I don't want to settle for less than what my passion is but strive for it & basically not being afraid to follow your dreams. What's my passion exactly? I'm still not sure. Do I have ideas of how I'm going to find my passion? Of course & from doing some research apartment leasing & social media marketing are still industries I'm very much interested in.
As far as my blog goes, I was so busy within the past month I decided to take a break & re-evaluate my blog. My blog will always be just a hobby for me. If it turns into a career, that would be great but I got to think realistically at the end of the day! The new version of my blog will be categorized more as lifestyle. I don't want to label myself as just a fashion blog or just a beauty blog. Of course I love talking about fashion & beauty but I want to discuss all types of subjects!
I pray my posts are reaching out to someone & personally speaking to them. I want my posts to be relatable. I was actually on Facebook over a week ago & I ran into this article which click here to read the article! This article touched me so much personally because I don't know 100% what I want to do with my life. This past Wednesday, I celebrated my 22nd birthday & when I was younger I use to always think that by 22 you would have your life together & you would find your exact passion which isn't necessarily true. If you know what your passion is by 22 I truly applaud you! I'm still figuring out this adult world & welcome to my journey!
