Hey guys! It's that time of year where I usually release my New Years Resolutions for the upcoming year & react to if I stayed true to my Resolutions from last year but let's face it... NO ONE'S RESOLUTIONS WENT TO PLAN THIS YEAR! My resolutions were all about traveling & going to a ton of concerts which we were on the right track for that happening with 7 concerts planned for Summer 2020 alone but... you know what happened. 2020 happened.
Let's face it.. this year was tough for everyone in all different types of ways. I know we all grew as individuals in our own ways & I know we all want to move forward so badly from what 2020 has been. With that being said... my resolutions this year have more meaning & thought more than ever & a ton of my resolutions will be based off of things I learned this year!
My 2021 New Years Resolutions
1. Putting My Mental Health First
I know a lot of people's mental health struggled in 2020, I know mine did. Mostly everything I knew of before COVID got stripped away or changed A LOT in so many aspects of my life. The amount of change that went on this year was extremely overwhelming & I know that was the case for a lot of people. In 2021, I really want to focus a lot on my mental health. If I ever see myself stressed over stupid little things, I do want to distance myself from the stress & really do things to make me feel a lot more better & calm. I got into my head way too many times this year & often I thought about what I had lost & not about what I have or had which was horrible for my mental health. I put this as my very first resolution & usually I don't recommend any of my resolutions to everyone but truly, if you are thinking about doing resolutions please include protecting your mental health in there!
2. Get Into Meditation
I will mention that one of my resolutions last year was to get a consistent workout schedule & thanks to Quarantine & lockdown, I got into such a consistent workout routine that if I skip a day I don't feel like myself & I'm proud that I finally got consistency in my workout routine. I did have to cancel my gym membership this year because I didn't feel as motivated to workout. Driving to the gym several times a week seemed like a lot plus I don't feel 100% comfortable during these times going back to the gym.
With that being said, I have the workout part down but meditation is just as important as the physical workout. It's always been so tough for me to get into meditation but in 2021, we are changing that! I got to tell myself that mentally meditation is good for me!
3. Start Thinking About Crossing Things Off of My Bucket List.. No Matter How Crazy it Sounds!
The thing that 2020 has motivated me the most to do is to think seriously about that quarter life bucket list. 2020 has made me want to do all of the things I've always dreamed of doing & I know we can't physically do everything at this moment but eventually, I will do them! I believe post Pandemic you will see a destination vacation boom & I will be gladly contributing to that boom HAHA! I want to go all of the places & do all of the things I've always wanted to do. This resolution isn't a "travel as much as I can" resolution but it's a resolution to really start having those conversations about future dream travel plans & crossing things off of my bucket list of things I want to do before I get married & have kids. This just isn't about travelling but there's things on my bucket list I've always wanted to do & in 2021, we are going to be bold & try to do those things! I would share some things off of my bucket list but that would give away a secret project I've been working on.
I feel like 2021 is the year I'm going to be on the right track of doing all of the things I've dreamed of doing no matter how crazy it sounds!
4. Having Those Hard Conversations About the Future..
I know it's hard to think about the future right now but next year I'm turning 24 & there's still so many things I want to accomplish. I know in 2020, plans have changed for everyone & taking actions on things for your future are harder than ever but I think in 2021, I have to have the hardest conversations with myself about how I do want to spend my mid & late 20s & taking action to the best of my ability on how I'm going to go in whatever direction I want to go in!
5. Start New Money Saving Strategies..
So in last year's resolutions I mentioned how I was saving money for a new car & in August it finally happened!!! I saved up enough money to buy a car in full & it was a 2019!!! I'm still super happy about accomplishing this goal! Ever since getting my car, I've had to rebuild my savings account & in 2021, I want to create a strategy to building up my savings again & creating new goals for myself financially!
Since straying away from attempting to be a fashion blogger, I am financially in a much better place! Fashion blogging is horrible for your bank account & it brought a bunch of peer pressure into my life for years to buy the latest & greatest at all times! I still have a bit of a shopping problem but in 2020, I have gotten so much of a control on it & started shopping way cheaper than what I use to back in my fashion blogging days!
In 2021, I want to have even more control on my shopping addiction & think real hardly about whether it's a want or a need & start thinking about whether I need that new top or to save money on something for my future!
That is all for my resolutions! With that being said, this will probably be my last post for the year. There’s so many areas in my life I need to work on to better my mental health & become the best version of me in 2021. Thank you for all of the people who read my blog regularly! Please stay safe this holiday season & I hope y’all have a happy new year!
