Hey guys! This is my first blog post of the year & it is all about protecting your peace & prioritizing your mental health in your late 20s. I'm 27, about to be 28 in July (it's still scary to say those numbers haha) & what I've learned so far is that your 20s go through waves of different types of hard. The struggles I was going through at 21 & my struggles now are completely different & prioritizing my mental health has evolved & changed overtime. Today's post is going to be for all of my late 20s girlies out there! I am writing this post to not only hold myself accountable but to share to y'all about protecting your peace & prioritizing your mental health.
Do Not Compare Your Life Timeline to Others, Your Timeline is Catered Towards YOU!
I feel like I have brushed off this feeling for most of my 20s but whenever you have the people you love around you hitting these milestones of getting married, having kids, buying houses, etc. & you are just making it through the day it can be very difficult to not look past other people's milestones & have that weird feeling of feeling behind in life. You also have to remember, that's THEIR TIMELINE not yours. Your Life Timeline is not supposed to mirror someone else's & life customizes your timeline.
Make Your Room Your Safe Space & Keep Your Safe Space Organized
When I say I'm trying to hold myself accountable with these steps by writing them on a public blog, this is one of those. After a long day of work, coming home to a messy room only makes me feel more stressed but also sometimes you don't have time to pick up a shirt you left on your bed that was an alternate outfit choice. I'm trying to be better about this & not leave my bed & safe space of my room a mess. I want to come home from work to not having to pick up anything at all & feeling calm peaceful vibes.
Drink More Water & Don't Rely Heavily on ONLY Caffeine
Another step that I'm trying to hold myself accountable for especially on long workdays I just want to run to just one more cup of coffee or a sweet tea. I have found when I have had too much caffeine my brain just spirals & I come home with a very chaotic mindset at the end of the day. What I'm working on is yes, caffeine is fine but not going from one caffeine drink to another. Have your cup of coffee in the morning & then switch to water. Midday if you feel like you are crashing, switch to a tea. Spread it out so you don't feel like you are spiraling 24/7.
If You're Not an Active Workout Girly, Do Not Go to Intense Workouts First... Prioritize Yoga, Pilates, & Barre
For YEARS especially in my early 20s, I thought the key to the best workout was by burning an intense amount of calories & doing these upbeat workouts which that may be the case to some but whenever you are trying to take care of your inner peace, that Nike at Home Intense Workout may not be the best choice. Recently, I've switched to at home yoga, Pilates, & barre workouts & I feel like I still get a good workout but I'm not wearing myself out so much that I can't move.
Find an Excuse to Take a Break from Stresses of Everyday Life & GO OUTSIDE!
I work a Monday-Friday office job & I have to remind myself about this EVERYDAY! Even if it's just stepping outside of the office & taking in the fresh air for 10 minutes can make the biggest difference on protecting your inner peace. I highly recommend it for all of my office girlies!
