Let's Chat - My Thoughts on the New "To All The Boys" Movie
Hey guys! Happy Wednesday! It's a lazy day for me & today is also the day the brand new To All The Boys movie came out & I've got so much to say so today's blog post is all about that! The main question everyone is asking is are you Team Peter or Team John?? To be fair, I've been a fan of both Noah Centineo & Jordan Fisher for years now because I was a fan of Noah on The Fosters & a fan of Jordan Fisher's music so my decision was pretty much based on what actor I fangirled over the most while watching the movie. I'll tell y'all that answer shortly right after I give away some thoughts I have about the new movie!
I have read half of the first book (I got too busy with life to finish it) so most of my thoughts are going to be based off of the movie adaptation!
Honestly, I see how Peter is a total heartthrob! When I was 16, I DREAMED of a guy like Peter so I can totally see why a lot of people are Team Peter & stick to being Team Peter!
But let's face it y'all… JOHN AMBROSE MCCLAREN DESERVED BETTER! He's such a sweetheart & he would have never lied to Lara Jean about the hot tub incident or had given her scrunchie to his ex (I'm still salty for Lara Jean, I would have been PISSED)!
I can see why Lara Jean is SOO into Peter & chose him over John even though if this was me I would have picked John just based off the fact he didn't screw her over & DIDN'T PLAGIARIZE EDGAR ALLAN POE!
Unpopular opinion... I could never 100% trust Peter, yeah he's sweet & he says all of the right things to make you fall in love with him but let's face it... HE'LL NEVER BE OVER GEN!! His actions & words throughout the 2 movies seemed a little off at times, not saying he never liked Lara Jean because I definitely think the fake dating thing had a lot to do with why he starts catching feelings!
It still makes me mad how Peter waited MONTHS into the relationship to tell her about the hot tub incident. I also gotta remember these people are suppose to be 16 & 16 year old boys barely have a brain to know that a girl loves when you are honest right off the bat. Peter should have told Lara Jean IMMEDIATELY when the video leaked but that's just my opinion.
I know a lot of people were back & forth this movie between Team Peter & Team John but let's face it.. I stayed true to Team John! The speech about the reason people called him John Ambrose was because of her honestly HAD ME IN TEARS! I know me being a Jordan Fisher fan since 2016 probably had a lot to do with why I was Team John but I kept an open mind the whole movie cause I'm also a huge The Fosters fan & at the end of the day, TEAM JOHN ALL OF THE WAY!
Also, I sometimes forgot these people are suppose to be 16 (in reality they are all around my age) & hearing the "I can't believe you don't dress up for the games" & the "Why didn't you ask me to bring the pizza?" made me laugh... oh boy, my problems I use to stress about in high school are NOTHING to me now LOL it's just funny how dramatic high school aged kids can really be sometimes.
As I was Team John throughout the whole movie, the "I know you hate driving in the snow " scene at the end was lowkey CUTE AS HELL & almost made me Team Peter again. I love when guys remember little details about me so I gotta give it to Peter... that was definitely the right move but I still don't fall for that picture Chris showed Lara.. I would have had major trust issues on that. I still don't trust Gen either. Just saying. Also, where is Josh? We were SO IN LOVE with him & he was super involved in the first movie but seriously not even one cameo? Seems fishy. I also aspire to be Stromy when I'm older RUNNING the old folks home like it's her PLACE!
Overall, the movie itself was very entertaining & I'd watch it again! The love triangle was a interesting storyline & I still feel like they didn't do enough with John Ambrose's storyline but that's just my opinion. It definitely did not compare to how iconic the first movie was & let me be honest, the best parts of the movie for me personally was every scene involving Jordan Fisher but that's just because I'm a fan of literally everything he does (go listen to his music on Spotify & watch him play Mark in Rent Live)! I rank this movie a 7/10! The first movie was a 10/10!
