Summer Life Update.

Hey guys! Yes, that is a picture of me above with a Taco Bell freeze. I got the Wild Strawberry one which I have never had before! I got off of work early, so I actually have time to blog, catch up on course work, & other things! This post, is basically going to be a life update post because I feel like I haven't done one of these in FOREVER!

I've been blogging for a little over 4 years & throughout the 4 years I've been blogging, I've learned so much about myself & the direction I want to go in as a content creator. I know, I haven't been as active on here this year but that's mainly because I've been putting my main focus on my podcast (It's A BOP! with Jess on Spotify) which I've had a BLAST doing!

I'm currently on a little hiatus with my podcast simply because I just needed a few weeks off to be with family, friends, & I've been working a ton lately so balancing the podcast at this moment was truly a lot & I just simply needed to step away & re-think things out with how I want this podcast to succeed because this podcast truly has opened a whole new door of passion which I've been missing for so long!

I stepped away from blogging for a little bit too because, I had truly lost my brand & focus with what direction I wanted to go in with this blog. The online course I'm taking right now is a Business & Marketing Writing course which has already been life changing & it's opened my mind to so many possibilities as I'm thinking about the next steps in my career.

I think I already went over this before, but this summer my main goal is to grow my career & really take time to research & take courses to get to the next level. I actually have time to do that this summer before I go into FULL TOUR MODE! That's right! Concerts are slowly coming back & starting in the fall, I'm already going to be CRAZY BUSY going to shows!

When I first started this blog 4 years ago, I mainly focused on fashion but again, I've explained this in the past & someday will do a podcast episode on it about how pursuing fashion blogging was damaging to my bank account & I put so much unnecessary pressure on myself to be like the most successful fashion Instagram bloggers while also staying true to myself.

Last year, I got a huge wake up call on all of that & started focusing on staying true to myself on here & that's when I got into award show predicting. Music will always be such a huge part of my life & I know music blogs aren't necessarily the most popular so I had to think outside of the box on how to talk about my concert experiences & love for music. That's when, "It's A BOP!" was born.

I'm still having a trouble on labeling this blog & at times I wonder why I'm still even doing this. This blog has been such a huge growing thing for me in my young adult life & when I was taking this Business & Marketing course, I realized all over again why I do continue to blog.

I continue to blog because I've always had a passion for writing! I also learned a lot of grammatical things in the course I will definitely take moving forward. I'm looking back at older blog posts & cringing on how I grammatically use to type on here. I definitely needed that refresher!

I've always loved the idea of typing up my OWN content & I know blogs are slowly starting to become a thing of the past, but every now & then who doesn't love to read a whole article or blog entry?

I've on & off had blogs since I was around 11 years old (don't get me started on my very first blog ever LOL). Blogging is truly part of my content creating roots & will always be a huge part of my life!

I just finished up the last lesson of the course, so what's next?? I've thought very carefully about where I want to go with my next steps of expanding my knowledge to further my career!

My main focus is expanding the skills section of my resume so I can have many skills on there! I need to improve in graphic & web design (obviously), so my next steps will definitely include that!

I also want to learn more about video editing (no, I'm not skilled enough to become a YouTuber yet) because, I don't even know where to start with that & it will be super helpful to know moving forward!

I also want to be more active on here because I want to truly find a passion for typing content again! I'm always taking blog suggestions so if y'all want to see something on here, let me know!!

I'm still deciding on what kind of content I want to post other from my everyday summer activities. Summer Grammys predicting season is upon us & you will definitely get some early predictions from me soon! I already kind of went over it vaguely on my podcast but now I have a whole thing typed up in my notes app on my personal thoughts! 

This next Grammys predicting season is going to be the most interesting one yet & I've learned a lot from last year about how predicting works so I'm thinking very strategically about everything!
