My VMAs 2020 Nomination Predictions

Hey guys! Today's post is going to be a really fun one! If you know me well or have been following me on social media for years, you probably already know that I LOVE AWARD SHOWS! I've blogged my predictions & nomination thoughts about the Grammys but I've realized I've never done one about the VMAs on here which is weird to me because in high school, I LIVED & BREATHED THE VMAs!! 

The VMAs was a real popular & active time on my older Twitter account with over 4,000 followers especially when I was in high school. Now, I don't overly do live tweets about the VMAs or even the Grammys. I pretty much moved all of my real intense award show posting to this blog which has been a lot more fun to be honest! 

Today, I'll be doing my nomination predictions before the full list of nominations comes out on Thursday which I'll do a whole nomination thoughts post & even compare how accurate my predictions were. I did my research & looked at other prediction websites & even saw tweets from different fanbases. The VMAs are fan voted so everything I'm going to predict are mainly off of the replies I've seen on Pop Crave HAHA! If you liked this post & want to see more posts like this, ALWAYS LET ME KNOW! These are not the official nominations! Official nominations will come out this Thursday! These are just my predictions (MTV will definitely have other ideas in mind) & I won't 100% agree to every one of my predictions!

I chose my predictions for this category based off of the popularity of the songs & the videos themselves. Every single one of these videos mentioned above were VERY talked about on my Twitter timeline this year! I'm not a fan of every single song but realistically, I could see every one of these videos getting nominated. 

Most likely to be nominated & win: Watermelon Sugar or Rain on Me

How I decided these predictions were based off of who was most talked about under the VMAs hashtag on Twitter. The K-Pop stans are SO DEDICATED so most of the tweets I saw were from K-Pop stans. I'm not super familiar with K-Pop other than BTS & BLACKPINK so that's why those were the only K-Pop artists I included in here (there were SO MANY others in the hashtag)! I did also see Ariana, Harry, Jonas, & Gaga included in the hashtag so that's why I included them too plus I'm a fan of every single one of these artists! All of these artists could easily get a nomination & it's really going to be up to which fanbase is going to commit more time to voting for their favorite artist.

Song of the Year is also a super major category & VERY similar to my VERY Early Grammy predictions I made back in May (I linked above if you wanted to see those), I based these off of other predictions I've seen from media outlets & Gold Derby. Every single song I mentioned above have been INSANELY popular & received major recognition! It really was hard for me to put Tik Tok songs on here (I'm not the biggest fan of Say So) but I feel like if these Tik Tok songs are going to get major recognition for any award show, it will definitely be at the VMAs!

Most of my predictions for this category were based off of last year's nominees! I also added Chloe x Halle in here even though they are duo (I am hoping they still get a nominee in this category or any category really because they've had a HUGE year & Ungodly Hour is SUCH A GOOD ALBUM). BTS won last year & I feel like with how powerful their fanbase is, they will win once again!

I took mostly nominees from Push except for Megan (it shocked me she wasn't nominated for the Push artist category considering the year she's had)!

I'm unsure how their rules are but I would just assume for a major category that it would have to have a music video of some sorts!
