VMAs 2020 Nomination Thoughts

Hey guys!! Today's post is probably going to be the most passionate I've ever been in a post probably ever. If you have been following this blog for a while, I got SUPER INTO Grammys season & posting my nomination thoughts, predictions, & thoughts after the whole thing. Before Grammys season took over my life, IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE VMAs!! In my most recent post which you can click here to check out , I made my predictions on who I thought was going to get nominated. Nominees just got released not even a hour ago & I ALREADY HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY! This blog post will be long so sit back & relax because I'm about to tell y'all MY BRUTALLY HONEST THOUGHTS about this year's nominees & who I want to win (most likely who I will vote for since it's fan voted) & who I realistically think is going to win. This category is A LOT different than I thought it was going to be & if you saw my nomination thoughts, my list looked so different! Pretty much the only thing I predicted right was Rain On Me. I'll have to go back & watch the majority of these videos because I have never seen them (except for Rain On Me & Blinding Lights) because it's kind of hard for me to judge this now. The major robbery from this category is I REALLY THOUGHT WATERMELON SUGAR WAS GOING TO BE NOMINATED!! HARRY GOT ROBBED!!!

Another category that I predicted REALLY WRONG! I'm really surprised Ariana & Harry aren't on this list or even BTS considering how big they get at award shows & how hard their fans get with voting!

Now this list looks A LOT like what I was predicting. I knew a bunch of the Tik Tok viral songs were going to get nominated in the big categories. For my very early Grammy predictions (which you can actually click here to see so you won't get lost on what I'm about to say), I was REALLY defensive about putting Tik Tok viral songs for my predictions & I always felt that those songs would win bigger at the VMAs anyways because it targets a more trendy audience.

This category honestly is ALL OVER THE PLACE! There's way too many strong fanbases I know will GO HARD voting for their favorites competing against each other. Ariana of course has a greater chance of winning just because she's nominated for 2 different songs but have y'all seen Nicki's fanbase this past year & what they did with charting the Say So remix SO FAST & RIGHT AWAY! It wouldn't be surprised if Nicki's fans go HARD on voting for this category.

So they announced a bunch of people for PUSH artist earlier this week & I AM SO DUMB FOR NOT VOTING BECAUSE I HAD NO IDEA THEY WERE GOING TO NARROW DOWN THAT QUICKLY (BROCKHAMPTON GOT ROBBED)!!! It makes sense though now that I think about it. I'm just not a HUGE Doja Cat fan but easily I know Doja is going to take this award. Also, I thought there were 2 new artist categories last year? Honestly, how is Megan Thee Stallion not on this list AT ALL? Anyways, if the Tik Tok generation is mainly voting, we all know who's going to win the award.

I always have to think about this being fan voted & then when I realize it, the VMAs are actually trying to start a Stan Twitter war because the amount of BIG FANDOMS in this category is INSANE! I guess they got to put the biggest fanbases together to make things more exciting! Honestly, someone is going to get robbed in this category.

HIGHEST IN THE ROOM by Travis Scott

The good news, I am familiar with every song so I can fairly judge this. Every single one of these songs were big & hit mainstream this year. I really have loved Megan Thee Stallion over the past year so I'm really rooting for her to win!

For Best Rock I wasn't super familiar with every song so I'm not going to spend time on this post overly analyzing it! Let me know who I should root for!

Best Alternative HAS TO GO TO The 1975 for If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)!! That's all I have to say about that category.

I LITERALLY LOVE ALL OF THESE SONGS!! Honestly, anyone can win this award & I wouldn't be mad. Of course, I'm going to root for Khalid because that's my FAVORITE artist but honestly, Chloe x Halle are KILLING IT this year! This is going to be so hard!!

Give Best K-Pop to BTS. BLACKPINK GOT ROBBED WITH HOW YOU LIKE THAT! Ok, that's it on Best K-Pop... ANYWAYS!

Video for Good HAS TO GO To I Can't Breathe by H.E.R. because everything about that song is SO POWERFUL! If you haven't listened to it, STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING & LISTEN TO IT!

Best Music Video from Home is the most 2020 thing I've ever heard of. Anyways, Stuck With U DESERVES!

Best Quarantine Performance also is a reminder & sad reality of what 2020 has been. Anyways, VOTE FOR CHLOE X HALLE!
