Hey guys! It's here. My American Music Awards 2020 Nomination Thoughts. I had a whole prediction post planned & then literally the day after I finished the post & put it in my drafts to post the next day, official nominees came out! Originally like every other award show I've blogged about this year I do a predictions post, nomination thoughts post, & then a review or a post portraying to the awards but we are skipping the predictions part this time & getting straight into the facts & the OFFICIAL NOMINEES!
I always had mixed feelings about how the AMA nominees are done. I like how they are fan voted but it's either way too little nominees or way too little nominees of 3 VERY POWERFUL fanbases! It's going to be super interesting to see how everything ends up panning out!

I will not be sharing my thoughts on every single category or else this post would be forever long! I'm only going to share my thoughts on more popular categories!
Artist of the Year:
Justin Bieber

Roddy Ricch
Taylor Swift
The Weeknd
This list didn't surprise me one bit! The only thing I really have to complain about is the lack of women in the category. So many great women artists have come out with such good music this year that needs to be recognized! I love every single artist in this category but AMAs.... y'all should've nominated more women in this category!

New Artist of the Year:
Doja Cat
DaBaby
Lil Baby
Lewis Capaldi
Megan Thee Stallion
Roddy Ricch
Tis the season of the next generation of the "Best New Artist" category! I really think it's going to come down to Doja VS Megan for AMAs, Grammys, & every other award show for the next year!

Who will realistically win: Doja Cat or Megan Thee Stallion

Rain On Me by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande

So many super popular music videos are nominated! I feel like it's really going to be based on who has the most powerful fanbase! Gaga & Ariana both have SUPER powerful fanbases & they could have an advantage of winning just because of how powerful both fanbases are but there again Swifties do GO HARD!

Again, every song was HUGE & it's going to be interesting to see who ends up winning this award!

Ok, so when I was typing out predictions before the AMAs released nominees & completely ruined my predictions posting plan, I was looking at who's been nominated over the past years & one year Drake was nominated for Pop/Rock like what???? At least this time they chose 3 big artists who are super well known in the pop industry. I really think they should leave Rock out of this category & maybe add it to the Alternative category.
Who I want to win: Honestly either of them!

Favorite Female Artist - Pop/Rock:
Dua Lipa
Lady Gaga
Taylor Swift
DUA LIPA IS FINALLY GETTING NOMINEES AFTER GETTING ROBBED AT THE VMAS & BBMAS!!!! Honestly, all of these ladies are amazing & I wouldn't mind either of them winning!

Favorite Artist - Adult/Contemporary:
Maroon 5
Lewis Capaldi
Jonas Brothers
Adult/Contemporary reminds me of popular music middle aged women listen to on repeat but there again the Jonas Brothers are on this list so I really just think they should change this category to "Most Likely to Be Played at the Mall & on your Mom's Playlist". Honestly, I love the Jonas Brothers so much I hope they win!

Favorite Artist - Contemporary/Inspirational:
Kanye West
Lauren Daigle
For King & Country
Literally anyone but Kanye!
Who I want to win: Lauren Daigle or For King & Country

Favorite Duo/Group - Pop/Rock:
BTS
Jonas Brothers
Maroon 5
I don't even know why I share my thoughts on any fan voted category with BTS in it anymore because we all know BTS is going to win because that fanbase is DEDICATED!

Who will realistically win: BTS
Favorite Song - Pop/Rock:
Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi
Don't Start Now by Dua Lipa
Circles by Post Malone
The Box by Roddy Ricch
Blinding Lights by The Weeknd
All of these songs got so popular this year & honestly I could see either one of these winning. I could realistically see Dua's fanbase really voting like crazy this awards show considering she's finally starting to get nominated for her Future Nostalgia era!

Favorite Album - Pop/Rock:
Fine Line by Harry Styles
Folklore by Taylor Swift
After Hours by The Weeknd
Y'all know I get emotional about Harry Styles but I get even more emotional about him when it comes to him getting nominated for awards. If he gets nominated for Grammys I'm going to actually sob my eyes out because I love him so much. Anyways, I loved all of these albums but Fine Line deserves the win!
