Billboard Music Awards 2020 Nomination Thoughts

Hey guys! I feel like I've been waiting on this day FOREVER but this pandemic just makes it seem like FOREVER because it was just last month since they announced they were doing these award shows & I did my nomination predictions HAHA! I literally had no idea when I was predicting these awards whether they were going to nominate songs from 2019 or both 2019/2020 so my predictions were honestly a mess! They ended up nominating songs from 2019 (the good old days) & I already have so much to say!

I won't be going through every single category because that would make this post WAY TOO LONG so I'm going to do my thoughts on the categories I personally care about or have more thoughts on! 

Over a month ago I made predictions to these awards which were WAY OFF because I had no idea how they were going to do nominations with everything so postponed so if you want to see the absolute clownery of that click here!

These are all nominees I personally expected & am not shocked any of these people got nominated from how big of years they had last year! The outcome could really be anything but personally for me, I think the Jonas Brothers comeback deserves the big recognition!

I feel like I'm at this year's Grammys all over again reading these nominees! Any of these people could win honestly. I lowkey want Lizzo to win because I wanted her to win so badly for Best New Artist at the Grammys plus with the year she had last year, she deserves some recognition for that! I could also see Lil Nas X winning it because of the whole he broke Billboard Charts Records thing & I know he will get some crazy recognition for that & I won't be shocked if winning this award will be part of that recognition.

So as I was typing these thoughts out, I had no idea not every category wasn't fan voted & I had to delete 20000 paragraphs already of me saying, "I have no idea what the fans will do!" but thank god I caught myself before I experienced that clownery. ANYWAYS! Y'all know how much I am rooting for Harry Styles at these award shows & I have a feeling the fans will GO HARD voting (I know I will because Harry & award shows gives me the best adrenaline rush)! I would only be mad if Luke Combs won over Harry because honestly... what??

Honestly, y'all already know who I'll mainly be rooting for & that is KHALID!! 2019 was such a huge year for him & Free Spirit impacted my life so much personally & just overall means the world to me but also.. Posty I love him too (Hollywood's Bleeding also means the world to me)! I'm pretty sure this isn't fan voted & lowkey I'm glad for that because this category is already stressing me out. Watch them end up picking Lil Nas X because again, he's got the "I beat Billboard Charts Records" card!

Here is why I'm rooting for Ariana Grande the most for this award. Thank U Next came out in 2019 at the most convenient time in almost every girl's life (especially mine) & then she went on the iconic Sweetener World Tour (which I personally did witness). Overall, Ariana had a huge year & I really think Ariana deserves this award but there again I also wouldn't be mad if Lizzo, Halsey, or Taylor won. If Billie won it would just bring back flashbacks from the Grammys & I'm not sure I want that to happen but again, I would not be shocked if she won from that alone because the music industry loves her. Honestly, I really stand by really wanting Ariana to win!

Honestly, if this truly isn't fan voted I'm kind of glad for that but if it is we all know who will win. Anyways! This is why I think the Jonas Brothers deserve this award. They made a comeback in 2019 & made the most legendary comeback for our generation. The Jonas Brothers comeback truly warmed my heart in ways I never thought imaginable & if these awards are based off of 2019's success, GIVE IT TO THE FREAKING JONAS BROTHERS!!!!

Let me just be really honest with y'all, I talk about award shows not chart data even though I know there's people on Twitter who are really into that stuff & I've tried to grasp it & I just see the numbers 200 & 100. For all of my chart data & streaming data obsessed people, I think y'all could predict these a lot better than me. I'm just going to pick based off of who I like or who's popular honestly because award shows are really about popularity!

Here's a category I do have a little more knowledge on! All of these artists I heard so many times on the radio in the past year but I still think the Jonas Brothers deserve to take home this award even though I love every single one of these artists in their own ways!

This is one of the awards I have A LOT to say! First of all, I did not stress out over getting tickets to every big tour I went to last year for them to be disrespected at this awards show. Last year I went to Ariana's Sweetener World Tour, Shawn's world tour, Khalid's Free Spirit tour, the Happiness Begins tour (Jonas Brothers), & Posty's Runaway Tour which were all very much talked about tours & a ton of people were there! I thought at least one of those tours were going to be nominated but I guess not. The only artist I've seen live from the nominees is Ed Sheeran & that tour was back in 2017 (he had some dates in 2018 as well). It truly doesn't make sense how these nominees came to be but I'm just infuriated some of the most outstanding tours I've seen yet in the past year were not nominated.

If I had to pick based off of last year, I truly think Khalid deserves this award but if they are going to go after popularity I have a feeling The Weeknd is going to take the award (which I love him as well)!

The Free Spirit Tour was so outstanding in every way, shape, & form. I'm not even being dramatic. That show really meant that much to me & deserves this award!

Ok, why was Drake nominated? He didn't even tour last year (if he had toured you best believe I would have been there)? I personally want Post Malone to win not only because this is the only artist out of this list I've seen but he truly put on such a fun show!

I love a good majority of these albums nominated but if it were up to me personally, I really love Free Spirit & it truly means so much to me so I'd personally want that to win so badly!

I'm shocked Changes was considered in the R&B categories because I think of it more as a Pop album but anyways again, I'm going to root for Free Spirit because I don't think this album has gotten the true award show recognition it rightfully deserves.

This is really the only Hot 100/Billboard 200 category I'm going to do my nomination thoughts on because I truly believe Old Town Road is going to take all of these because of the records the song broke.

Those were all of the categories I wanted to discuss today! There were so many other categories & if you want my personal thoughts on those let me know! This is my first year I'm truly diving into the categories for this award show even though in past years I've just watched the ceremony & enjoyed the show but this year we are switching things up. 

There's so many categories it's almost overwhelming but I can't wait to see how it all pans out in a few weeks!
