Songs, Artists, & Albums I Think Got ROBBED this Grammys 2021!!!

Hey guys!! The madness continues.... I had to do another Grammys 2021 themed post right after my Nomination Thoughts because when I do my Nomination Thoughts, I have to talk about the robberies that come with it & there sure was a lot! This year we had the BIGGEST ROBBERIES in music history. These robberies will be talked about for years & years to come.

Usually when I do my Nomination Thoughts, I post the robberies at the end but there were SO MANY this year that I had to do a whole entire other post about it! Again, grab your popcorn, grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine & let's get right into the robberies that are being talked about all over social media & more!

Grammys 2021 ROBBERIES:

Robbery #1: The Weeknd's Entire After Hours Era

This is the robbery being talked about all over social media because let's face it, we all thought The Weeknd was going to get the most nominations. Every prediction website was saying it, I was saying it, & my friends & family were even saying it. Whenever I was watching the VMAs & The Weeknd won Video of the Year, my mom literally said, "this is what the Grammys is going to be like". I had already accepted the fact that The Weeknd was going to win awards over Harry Styles (which I was also HARDCORE campaigning for & congrats Harry on your 3 nominations!) & then the big bombshell was revealed... HE WAS NOMINATED FOR NOTHING!! I have a reaction video of me reacting to the main categories & I'm thinking about posting it on Tik Tok because my jaw was DROPPING the entire time when The Weeknd got NOTHING. I knew there was more to this story & there certainly was!

Blinding Lights still remains one of the biggest songs of the year & as of today (November 30, 2020 in case y'all were wondering this post was typed out in advanced), Blinding Lights is the longest running Top 10 song in Hot 100 HISTORY!! I was SO CONVINCED Record of the Year was going to go to Blinding Lights, Adore You, or Circles (Circles was the only one nominated out of the 3)! Celebrities & fans everywhere were just as confused as I was. 

The Grammys & The Super Bowl are a week apart so again, I was more convinced than ever The Weeknd was going to take all of the awards because what sounds better than, "This year's 5 time Grammy winner The Weeknd is about to perform in the Super Bowl halftime show!". It sure sounds pretty damn good with me. Apparently, according to some articles I read, The Weeknd's team was already in discussion with the Recording Academy & the Super Bowl about how The Weeknd was going to perform in both shows. He was reportedly given an ultimatum & had to pick between the 2. The Weeknd is already a 3 time Grammy winner so I don't blame The Weeknd for picking the Super Bowl. 

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is a once in a lifetime opportunity & I don't blame The Weeknd at all but the fact he had to choose between the 2 is absolutely no fair & is showing the Recording Academy's true colors. I usually love watching the Grammys because they are at least suppose to recognize the best of the best in music but I've noticed in more recent years especially from starting to predict & share my nomination thoughts that the Grammys is losing that value. The Grammys now is about who you know & connections & that's absolutely no fair. Every year & especially in recent years, more & more Grammy worthy songs, albums, & artists are being robbed. I really think the whole Recording Academy needs to be shifted or do what Drake suggested, let's start a new Recording Academy for the next generation because this one isn't it. I'm all here for it! After Hours as an album gave me the chills! Everything about the album deserved to sweep the nominations! The production & quality was outstanding & let's also keep in mind, it still remains one of the most popular albums this year! The Weeknd & the entire After Hours era truly deserves better. The VMAs & AMAs did a better job at recognizing The Weeknd. Recording Academy, please do better. This is absolutely ridiculous & it was so unnecessary any of this even happened. It really kills the vibe of looking forward to this year's awards. Sorry this was so long but I had to get this off of my chest! Let's move on to even more robberies!

Robbery #2: Harry Styles DESERVED General Field Nominations

Another robbery that had my jaw dropping! We were doing so well when he sweeped pop field nominations & even a Best Music Video nomination & I'm so happy Harry got those nominations but the fact Fine Line or Adore You didn't get any General Field nominations is absolutely ridiculous. Fine Line is truly such an amazing album & we had Stevie Nicks calling Fine Line his "Rumours" album like ARE YOU KIDDING ME RECORDING ACADEMY???? The guitar solo in She should have received a nomination itself & that also should have been enough to get an Album of the Year nomination. I'm just happy Harry got nominations because he truly deserves it & I pray he doesn't get robbed at the actual award show, but this album & Adore You were so creative & amazing that it deserved even more recognition! 

Robbery #3: Chromatica DESERVED WAY MORE RECOGNITION!

Chromatica was truly such a creative album & I'm glad it got a Pop Vocal nomination & Rain on Me got a Pop/Dup nomination but also, it deserved way more nominees. I was convinced Rain on Me was going to make main categories & Stupid Love was going to be nominated for Pop Solo or even Dance Recording but obviously, the Recording Academy had other ideas in mind & Yummy was the outcome. Chromatica deserved an Album of the Year nomination for sure!!

Robbery #4: Juice WRLD got ROBBED!

The fact that Juice WRLD was so talented & creative with his artistry & got 0 nominations truly shocks me. I remember when Lucid Dreams got robbed I was so shocked & even when he was eligible for Best New Artist, he still was robbed! Legends Never Die was such a great album & I was so convinced he was going to for sure get nominated in the Melodic Rap category but he still got robbed. It's truly so disappointing. 

Robbery #5: Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus

I had high hopes that Miley would be nominated for Midnight Sky for Pop Solo but no, it got robbed! Hopefully in 2022, her new album Plastic Hearts will get its well deserved recognition because that album is AMAZING & I'm OBSESSED!

Robbery #6: Gabby Barrett

I've loved Gabby Barrett since American Idol & she had a huge year with I Hope & her new album that I was convinced she was going to get a Best New Artist & Country nominees but she got nothing. It makes me so sad!! Gabby, your day will come!!

Robbery #7: Halsey's Manic Era

I think Manic is Halsey's best album so far & it got robbed. Halsey already expressed her disappointment with this & now I'm about to express my disappointment. 3am itself deserved a nomination & mainstream recognition just saying. Graveyard & You Should Be Sad which are her more well known songs off of the album got robbed & both of those songs are SOO GOOD! I'm so upset!

Other Robbery Rants:

• Niall Horan's Heartbreak Weather was a Grammy worthy album & deserves more recognition! Stop whatever you are doing & stream that album!
• I'm SO SHOCKED Summer Walker got 0 R&B & Best New Artist nominations considering how big Over It was!
• If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know) by The 1975 is a Grammy worthy song!
• Take What You Want by Post Malone, Ozzy Osbourne, & Travis Scott deserved a Grammy nomination!
• How did Roses by SAINt JHN not get a Best Dance Recording nomination?? That song was ALL OVER TIK TOK?
• Mac Miller deserved a Grammy nomination this year! Circles was such a good album!
• Ungodly Hour by Chloe x Halle deserved General Field nominations!
• Kehlani's It Was Good Until It Wasn't album got ROBBED!
• TOGETHER by For King & Country, Tori Kelly, & Kirk Franklin deserved a Christian Song nomination!

My After Thoughts:

On Nomination Announcement day, let me be honest with y'all, I felt SO UNSETTLED by the outcome of the nominees mostly because of the huge The Weeknd robbery. I was so unsettled I debated not even posting my Nomination Thoughts because I was THAT DONE but I promised y'all that & I gave y'all that. 

A lot of my Grammy themed posts coming up were based upon if After Hours & Fine Line did get General Field nominations so I'll really have to reevaluate Grammys Week & what ideas I'm going to do.

If y'all didn't know, I spent most of my Quarantined summer doing research to make Grammys predictions because I was so pumped for this year following the fact a lot of my favorite albums & songs were possibly in the running so the fact the the nominations did turn out like they did is such a let down. 

I will still be watching the show & having a little watch party with close family & friends but as far as blogging about it goes, I'm just going to have to reevaluate a lot.
